John McCormick Chesapeake School Board Member

Proudly serving the citizens of Chesapeake since 2022 and working to put students, parents, teachers, and taxpayers first.

Focused on What Matters Most

SAFE SCHOOLS
Keeping (and expanding) trained and armed law enforcement in our schools, strengthening school security, supporting effective discipline, and protecting every student.

STRONG TEACHERS
Competitive pay, recruiting and retaining great teachers, protecting teacher planning time, and reducing unnecessary burdens.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Improving reading and math achievement, putting teachers ahead of excessive screen time, expanding career preparation, and demanding accountability.

PARENTS & COMMON-SENSE VALUES
Respecting parental involvement, keeping political agendas from interfering with learning, protecting girls’ sports, and maintaining common-sense standards for bathrooms and locker rooms.

Deep Roots in Chesapeake

I have called Chesapeake home for more than 30 years, and my wife and I are proud to raise our four children here.

As a father with children in Chesapeake Public Schools, the decisions made by the School Board are personal to me. I serve because every child deserves a safe school, an excellent education, and the opportunity to build a successful future.

I remain committed to listening to families, supporting teachers, protecting taxpayers, and making decisions that put students first.

Experienced Leadership. A Record of Service.

Since being elected to the Chesapeake School Board in 2022, I have worked to provide thoughtful, principled leadership and ensure our schools remain focused on students.

I have consistently advocated for safer schools, strong academics, competitive teacher compensation, expanded career and technical education, parental involvement, transparency, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

Serving Chesapeake is a privilege. I will continue asking the tough questions, listening to our community, and working to deliver meaningful results for students, families, teachers, and taxpayers.

The man in the middle is wearing a suit with an ID badge, and the woman on the right is wearing a floral dress and yellow heels. There is an American flag, yellow flowers, and flyers on a table in the background.

The Work Continues

Chesapeake Public Schools face important decisions about student safety, academic achievement, teacher recruitment and retention, school facilities, and responsible use of taxpayer dollars.

I am running for re-election to continue providing experienced, principled leadership on the School Board. I will keep asking the tough questions, listening to our community, and working to ensure every decision keeps Chesapeake’s students and families at the center.

I would be honored to earn your support and continue serving Chesapeake for another four years.
